I would just like to thank the staff, not only for coming in at night for my dog, but taking great care of her. Super friendly and took their time.
Do not go to this place. They are scammers and charge you more money that what it really is. They just care about money not your pet. Also, I asked them for a paper that my dog needed on a specific date with 2 month notice and still did not do it on time and charge me an extra 200 dollars for overnight shipping because they also made a mistake on the process.
I have started this review multiple times, just couldn't get thru it. I am a long haul truck driver. My Husky Willow Girl has been with me since day 1. On January 25 at 10pm, she wasnt acting right. Couldn't seem to get comfortable. I thought maybe she had to potty. So I bundled up and got her out. She'd walk 10 feet stop and lay down, walk 10 feet stop and lay down, etc. This was not like her.
I put info into Chat GBT. They asked if her stomach was hard. It was, rock hard. They said she needs to be seen. NOW.
I googled veterinarians in York, NE. York Animal Clinic was the 1st to pop up. By now its almost 11:00pm. (On a Sunday) i called and got the voicemail. It said if this was an emergency to press 1 (i think it was 1) i did. Dr Epp answered. A Real Person!! I was in shock. I explained to him what was going on. Zero hesitations, no more questions, just said "I'll meet you there, Now". Keep in mind... he has ZERO obligation to me or my Willow girl. We aren't his clients, he doesnt know us. Its a Sunday night, almost Monday at this point.
I unhook my trailer, text my boss "taking Willow to ER, more later" and off i went. Just happened to be 3.5 blocks away. I got there minutes before Dr Epp.
By the time i got Willow out, she was in so much pain you couldnt touch her. I've never seen anything like it. The quickness, the progression. It was awful.
Dr. Epp sedated my Willow, did an ultrasound, then took X-rays, came back into the room and said I need to shave her a little more. I didnt care if he shaved her bald. I truly thought this was going to be a "here's some antibiotics and pain meds" and send us on our way. I was wrong. Way wrong.
He did a 2nd ultrasound and found an extremely large mass connected to her kidney. It was so large it was compressing all her organs down. He was so sorry. I asked him what would he do if this was his dog? He said, without hesitation, "theres no quality of life, i would let her go". I asked for a few minutes alone. I cried so hard i almost threw up. This was it. Shes 8! I only had 6 years with her. She's my best friend. We're together 24/7. How can i leave without her?!?
After what seemed like eternity. I went and got Dr Epp. He asked if i wanted to be in the room. I didnt. "I would just like her paw prints, if thats possible" i asked. "Of course" he replied.
I left my life in that room. My Partner-in-Crime, my Best Friend.... My Everything.
I sat in the waiting room. He walked out with Willow's paw prints. He charged me $550. This man came in on a Sunday night at 11:30 at night, 2 Ultrasounds, X-rays, Sedation, Euthanization, and Paw Prints. For $550.
Everything happens for a reason, when its supposed to happen. No more than 2 days later i was on an interstate in Mississippi for over 24 hours due to an ice storm. What if all this happened then? What if i was in Chicago? Or a big city? A Lot of What Ifs.
I have adopted 2 sisters that are 7 years old. They've lived in a shelter for 6 of those years. Not one person visiting the shelter has even asked to meet them. They were waiting for me, just like my Willow did. I was her 5th and final Mama.
Anyway, long story for a review, but on the worst day of my life, Dr Epp made it bearable. He'll NEVER know how much i appreciate him, his kindness, and his empathy. The world needs more Dr Epp. It would be a better place.
Thank You Dr Epp!! Just, Thank You!!!
